Here is my completed tag for February, of Tim's Twelve Tags of 2014 challenge. You can see his lovely tag plus a step by step tutorial, by following the link here. I've followed Tim's instructions pretty well with this one, although I've used a different stencil for the background, which I have to say I'm quite pleased with. I used Tim's 'Stripes' Layering Stencil, first vertically and then horizontally which created the plaid pattern.
I added the two die cut hearts, one has ordinary red glitter and the other is in my favourite Pumice Stone Distress Glitter. Love this, it's so vintage ! Now, you may have noticed the Grrrrrrrr! in my title. That is because I just cannot master Tim's chalkboard technique. This was my third attempt and the least smudgy. I very nearly reached for the white embossing powder but of course it's part of the Twelve Tags challenge to learn new techniques and work with different products, so I wasn't going to give up ! Looking forward to seeing what challenges Tim's got in store for us next month x

fabulous take on tim's tag ... and stick with it, you will get that chalkboard technique down ... (i on the other hand am just to afraid to try it) ...
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at your post Toni, I feel exactly the same with the chalkboard technique, I had more than two go in the bin! I think your take on Tim's tag is wonderful, the plaid background is fabulous and I love the double hearts too. Glad that you did not give up on the technique, love that sentiment! Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteAs usual Toni - your work is absolutely fabulous! LOL - you reminded me I had forgotten to put my tag on Tim's blog after I posted it - I only hope I did it right. I could not do his blackboard technique so I just gave up and found another to use. I just get too frustrated and felt I just did not have the right touch but after reading your blog and Anne's blog I will definitely try again. Love your background and you have taught me something new. Beautifully done sugar!!

Beautiful tag! Love the shimmery hearts!
ReplyDeleteLovely plaid effect, and I love the two hearts layered together - and bravo for persevering with the chalk! Fab take on the tag.

Loving that background Toni but worried by your growls! Trying to work out what may have happened with the chalkboard what I can say is I've been careful not to press too hard with the stamp/embossing ink and then heated the powder just enough that it turns matte. Keep playing and it'll come right, but just be warned - you'll be addicted when it does!! Jenny x
ReplyDeleteI think your technique is just fine! Love this saying...so striking! Great take!
