The next stage, was to blend Antique Linen DI over the whole surface this starts to bring the image to life, further blending at the sides with Vintage Photo DI and Walnut Stain at the edges and the background was done. The beautiful young woman's face is a stamp by The Stampsmith. I stamped it in Sepia Archival Ink and clear embossed the surface. I cut the image out, using one of the oval Movers and Shapers Dies. To give it some dimension, I used a large ball tool with a soft mat to gently curve the surface before embossing. I then mounted it onto another oval die cut which I embossed with a patterened folder and then heat embossed the raised surface by swiping with Versa Mark and clear embossing powder. I then blended Walnut Stain DI onto the surface.
The metal embellishments have been treated with a rust kit called Instant Rust. It's not quite instant as you have to wait several hours between coats, but it does create a wonderful real rusty finish.
The final step was to add the sentiment. This is from a set called Art and Possibility also by Donna Downey for Unity Stamp co. Such sound advice don't you think? x

This is a beautiful interpretation of monochrome. I love the effect you have achieved with the background and the dimension on the frame - a great tip. Thank you for sharing this. Julie Ann xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tag, Toni - love your shades of rust. The cameo looks just wonderful with Serena behind that amazing glassy dome, and the embossed frame works brilliantly. Love your rusty embellishments!

ReplyDeleteToni this is completely gorgeous. I can't believe the face is a stamp - you've done an incredible job with it. The frame is amazing and so are your rust pieces. All placed on the gorgeous muted background - wow, really pretty.
ReplyDeleteSuperb Toni. The background is a triumph and suites your cameo so well. Love the rusted elements too as they add real age to your tag. Hugs, Jenny x

Vintage monochrome so COOL!!! This is utterly GORGEOUS!!!! Love the image...so striking! The ribbon and metal corner are perfect here as well! Wonderful work!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw these colors, Toni, I said, "oooooh...love it." Those warm brown shades are my favorites too. This is such a lovely, vintage tag. Perfect in every monochromatic way.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful. The background with the layers over the hollyhocks looks incredible. I never would have thought to use this stamp on a vintage piece. The cameo is remarkable. I thought the frame was metal and had domed glass over the image. What a cool effect! Love the rusty butterfly and the lush seam binding. Wonderful make, Toni.
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous Toni - seems like everyone know who you are but me!! But now I have found you and so I am off and running!!! I love your tag!
