I couldn't resist having another little play with my Distress Markers and water colour paper before I tidy up after making my June tag. It's nice to put into practice some of the skills learnt through doing Tim's Twelve Tags Challenge. I'd forgotten how much fun this technique is and how much practice I need! I have a tendency to over work things and I know that water colours need a light touch. Anyway, I've produced this little wall hanging which I thought I might enter into the Vintage Stamping Challenges where the theme is 'Childhood'. I backed the picture with a piece of distressed corrugated card, so it just about qualifies for The Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge which is all about 'Stripes'. The stamp I've used is from Indigo Blue. It reminds me of a lovely illustrated book I've inherited from my mum. It's called 'The Mammoth Wonder Book'. It has lovely illustrations, some of which my mum coloured in. She absolutely loved this book and so do I. It's been very well read over the years. So this is my tribute to childhood, a time which should be full of fun, dancing, laughter and playing with friends, just like these children.x

I remember having some well loved childhood books. How lovely that you still have that one of your mum's that she coloured in. Lovely water colour technique on this wall hanging, perfectly evoking childhood. Julie Ann xx
ReplyDeleteReally enchanting, Toni! Love the adorable image, so nostalgic (know exactly the sort of book you mean - many of them sitting around here, mine and my mother's!)... and it looks wonderful as a hanging with that great grungy corrugated card.

Great wall hanging, I love the texture from the corrugated card and the nostalgic feel to the whole thing. Thanks for joining us for this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge!
ReplyDeleteHi Toni, what wonderful memories this evokes, your hanging is gorgeous. I love the corrugated element and the way you have aged the delightful image. This is a wonderful piece. Sorry I have been MIA, trying to do catch up. Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteThat certainly takes me back! Love this image! The corrugated stripes are a wonderful base as well! Gorgeous hanging! Thanks for showing us your stripes here at Simon Says Stamp & Show!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty and feels so vintage! You did a great job coloring and using Tim's technique. Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a sweet comment! :)
ReplyDeleteI do love the image and your delightful hanging. Now if I do something similar, are you going to sue me Toni!!!!! I do not have the image but I really like distressed corrugated paper and the wire to hang it with. Such a nice feel!
