The challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show is asking us to show our 'favourite ink'. So unfair! How can any paper crafter choose just one favourite ink! Well I've pondered about this for a few days and come to the conclusion that there are inks that you just cannot live without and for me these would be Jet Black Archival, and the whole range of browns in Distress Ink, from antique Linen to Walnut stain. So they are just a given but the ink that first captured my heart at the very beginning of my stamping adventure, is good old clear embossing ink. With clear embossing ink and clear embossing powder, it doesn't matter what colour surface you choose to stamp on or what colour ink you blend in afterwards, you always have that magical resist shining through. So I'm sharing my journal cover which I completed a while ago, it's nice and clean as I usually have a plastic slip cover over it. It's very simply done, just stamped with clear embossing ink, over the top of a printed picture of birds and grasses, and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I then blended in several colours of Distress Ink,enabling the stamping to shine through.
This is the back cover, done in just the same way. Both pages were done in a purely experimental way, so the stamping is pretty random. The images were down loaded from The Graphics Fairy and printed onto A4 sized white card. I just really like the results and when I use this technique on cards for my none crafty friends, they always ask 'how did you do that?' It's just a little bit of crafty magic! So this time around, I'm choosing Clear Embossing ink as my favourite. The generous people over at Simon Says Stamp have sponsored the challenge and one lucky person drawn at random, will win a very cool $50 to spend in their shop.So why not share your favourite ink.x

This really is a beautiful journal cover Toni, I love the embossing and the gorgeous colours on top but for me the back cover is a winner - I adore that skull stamp, it is one of my all time favourites. Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful effects. You have inspired me to play with clear embossing powder again. xx
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous, Toni - beautiful inky colours - and I agree, very unfair to make us try to pick a favourite! I'm with Anne on the skull stamp too!

Yup...Jet Black is in my top 3! It's a must! This are both awesome, but that bird scene is AMAZING!!! I love the color and the stamping! Just GORGEOUS! Thank you for getting inky with us this week here at Simon Says Stamp & Show!
ReplyDeleteAntonia...your journal covers are gorgeous! I would have to agree with you that Jet Black Archival is a have to have ink! I use it all the time, too. The blended colors of you have used on the front cover are so beautifully done. I also love the white stamping you've added to the front and back covers. The scene on the front cover is so sweet and you're right...the black is THE PERFECT stamp color for that cover! The back cover looks amazing, too. Again, I love all of the white! Thanks for sharing your journals covers with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy
ReplyDeleteYou must have some special way of blending colours as both of these look so seamless and perfect. Know what you mean about the embossing ink. It can transform a project and bring elements to life. Both of these are superb as ever Toni. Hugs, Jenny x

Hi Toni, feel a bit like a stalker lol I scrolled down from WOYWW4 and saw your great jounal covers. I have tried using DI with a pinter image and even after leaving it to dry the ink smudges when I use the DI over the top. Could you give me any tips on how to avoid this.

I love what you do but you have scared the pants off me!!!!
